How to actually get a spot at library storytime

Free library storytimes are the best deal around for little kids, and the good ones fill up. Five quick tips for Spring Branch and Memorial.

Free library storytimes are the best deal around for little kids, and the good ones fill up. Here's how to get in near Spring Branch and Memorial.

  • Get there 15 minutes early. At Spring Branch Memorial Library, storytime tickets are free from the children's desk, and they can run out.
  • Know there's a second session. Baby Bouncers (Wednesdays) and Tiny Tykes (Thursdays) both run at 10:15 and again at 11:15.
  • Sign up ahead at Ring. Ring Neighborhood Library's toddler storytime (Wednesdays, 18 to 36 months) opens registration on the library calendar, so check it a couple of weeks out.
  • Check the calendar that morning. Storytimes can be canceled on short notice. Spring Branch Memorial canceled Tiny Tykes on Oct 22 because of staffing.
  • Match the age. Baby Bouncers is for crawlers and new walkers, Tiny Tykes for new walkers, and preschool storytime with a craft is for ages 3 to 6.
